Martine Ostrovsky

Former head of the legal department of Agence France-Presse. Member of Reporters without Borders.

Ms. Ostrovsky is a Lawyer and as such currently involved in the reform of the French legislation on the confidentiality of journalists' sources. She is former Head of the Legal Department of the “Agence France Presse”, specialised in media rights. She is board member of Reporters without borders and has contributed to the abolition of prison sentences in press law. She audited the press laws in Haiti, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Bahrain, Qatar and Morocco. Ms. Ostrovsky is also member of the National Commission on Human Rights and has participated as an expert in the general Assembly of Communication in Chad. She carried out a mission for the “International Center for Journalists” about media law in Senegal. She is author of several articles on media rights, news agencies, and the book "Freedom of the press, the French paradox" (« Liberté de la presse, le paradoxe français »), awarded by the “Institut de France”. Ms. Ostrovsky is a graduate of Public Law and the “Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris”.
