At the turn of the 19th century, Vienna was the capital of an empire that comprised 15 nations and far more than 50 million inhabitants. The city attracted a vast number of migrants and with them a vast diversity of cultures and languages, alongside a great variety of knowledge, creativity and visions. The multinational empire allowed for a unique and mutually enriching synergy of cultures – the foundation of a lifestyle, which we today call “the Viennese”. more
