President of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
Gjorge Ivanov won, with distinctive majority, 2009 presidential elections, as candidate of the political party VMRO-DPMNE. In 2012, in Salzburg, he was promoted as European Academy of Sciences and Arts protector. In 2011, he received the highest Decoration of “St. Lazarus” from Jerusalem. From 1988, he worked as journalist in the Macedonian Radio Television, until 1995, when his academic career started at St. Cyril and Methodius University. He obtained MA in political science on Civil Society and taught Political Theory and Political Philosophy. His PhD is “Democracy in Divided Societies: Case of Macedonia”. He has received Doctor Honoris Causa at “Dimitrie Kantemir” University, Bucharest (2011), Istanbul University (2011) and at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Ankara (2009). He graduated at the Law Faculty, St. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. President Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, was born in Valandovo, on May 2, 1960, is married and has one son.
