Austrian Ambassador, Geneva Ambassador Strohal has been serving as Permanent Representative of Austria to the UN Office at Geneva since July 2008. From June 2011 until December 2012 he held the position of Vice-President of the Human Rights Council. From December 2010 to 27 November 2012 he was President of the main Governing Bodies of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). From 2003 to 2008, he was Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). From 2000 until 2003, he was Austrian Ambassador to Luxembourg. From 1988 to 1992, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Austria to the UN Office at Geneva. From 1994 to 2000, he was Director for Human Rights at the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the Austrian representative to the UN Commission on Human Rights.
