Christopher McCormick

Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of the EF-Cambridge University Research Collaboration

As the head of language research, training and testing for EF Education First – the world’s largest language school – Dr. Christopher McCormick oversees the instructional design and delivery of EF’s language programs. He has been awarded patents in collaborative online language learning technologies and leads the group’s research in language teaching innovation. Under his supervision, EF publishes a wide range of books and e-books, courseware, mobile applications and supporting digital media for its classrooms worldwide. Together with a global network of teachers and education specialists he seeks to identify opportunities for more exciting and effective learning. Dr. McCormick also oversees the EF Research Unit at University of Cambridge's Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics and the EF Research Partnership with Moscow State University, which are investigating accelerated language learning. Prior to joining EF, Dr. McCormick taught and administered international language programs for young and adult learners, published educational materials, and consulted on language program development. Dr. McCormick holds a B.A. with honors in French and Russian from Tulane University, an M.A. in TEFL from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics also from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was named a University Fellow for his research in the area of multimedia in language instruction. Besides his native English, Dr. McCormick enjoys learning and speaking other languages, including French, Spanish, and Russian among others. He has traveled to over 60 countries and has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, France, China, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Switzerland.
