Ghida Fakhry Khane

Ghida Fakhry Khane is a News Anchor for Al Jazeera English at the network's headquarters in Doha. She joined AJE in 2006 as Lead Female anchor in Washington DC at the launch of the channel. She also presented “Witness", AJE's flagship documentary programme. Her career spans almost twenty years of political journalism in print and television. She has reported extensively from the United Nations in New York, where she conducted in-depth interviews with policy-makers such as the former Libyan Leader, Muammar Qaddafi, President Karzai of Afghanistan and President Ahmadinejad of Iran and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. She reported on location from Afghanistan and Iraq following the US-led invasion in 2003 and interviewed top US officials in Washington, including Secretaries Rumsfeld and Powell. As AlJazeera's NY Bureau Chief, she covered the attack on the World Trade center in New York and its aftermath. She was also a columnist for the London-based pan-Arab daily newspaper Asharq Al Awsat, focusing on the United Nations and international affairs. She holds an M.A Near and Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and an M.A in International Relations from Boston University. She is fluent in English, French and Arabic and is conversational in Spanish.
